Ophelia Benson: "THIS is all YOUR fault!"

Ophelia Benson learns a new big word – stochastic

Blood libel (also blood accusation[1][2]) is a false accusation or claim[3][4][5] that religious minorities, usually Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays.[1][2][6] Historically, these claims—alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration—have been a major theme in European persecution of Jews.[4]

Blood libels typically allege that Jews require human blood for the baking of matzos for Passover, although this element was absent in the earliest cases that claimed (the contemporary) Jews reenacted the crucifixion. The accusations often assert that the blood of Christian children is especially coveted, and, historically, blood libel claims have been made to account for otherwise unexplained deaths of children. In some cases, the alleged victim of human sacrifice has become venerated as a martyr, a holy figure around whom a martyr cult might arise. Four of these have been previously canonized as saints, namely William of Norwich, Little Saint Hugh of Lincoln, Simon of Trent (Simon was decanonized[7] in the 20th century), and Gavriil Belostoksky who remains canonized in the Russian Orthodox Church.the Cesspit of Lies (more…)

Voltaire’s maxim needs to be updated –

“The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of PZ Myers hypocrisy.”

Yet again, it is proven no matter how much you scrape the bottom of the baboon barrel, the Naked Emperor will still come up with a new way to astound you. Gore warning for the pussies out there – (more…)

“It is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence.” — Clifford’s Credo

This is quite a nice article I blundered into from some group that call themselves SKP Freethinkers (“SKP” => “escapee”, buncha recreational vehicle nuts, but with very solid Freethinker / skeptic foundations).

This is as good a statement of Freethought principles as I have seen recently, and in fact, Freedom From Religion Foundation agree, asking to reprint it as a pamphlet. It is clear, concise and to the point – simple enough even for baboons to understand. It is well worth a read, and whilst doing so, bearing The Naked Emperor and “freethought”blogs.com in mind. Here’s the link and some choice quotes –

Truthiness personified

Whenever I hear the term “snake oil” now I get images of The Naked Emperor in my mind. The ease and glibness with which he spins falsehoods and modifies reality on the fly to suit his purposes is staggering. I just present these two screencaps and am otherwise speechless –

"We are at war with Eurasia"

"We are NOT at war with Eurasia. We have NEVER been at war with Eurasia"

Now if there actually were all these mysterious Australian women terrified that I’d kick them in the cunt, it would have been brought up by now and repeated ad nauseam. But it hasn’t. It only gets raised now because we are at a convenient part of the plot line and it can add colour to the story. Hearsay and chinese whispers. This is how BigLies get constructed. Just keep chipping away and demonising, repeat over and over and over, and it will stick. Substance not necessary. And it helps if your audience are baboons.

Edit 12th Nov. – Myers statement that everyone’s “fallen all over themselves” is patently false, as can be read here in previous entries. People were just scratching their heads wondering if Myers actually was that stupid, and sat and waited for more information – Myers’ track record of living up to his own boasting is pretty dismal, and sure enough, in this case it appears he didn’t have backbone to follow-up on his threats. The ambiguity of Myers language, as pointed out by some, was also noted – that’s why there was no spontaneous cry of “bullshit!” What is noted by the above is that this is all very typical Myers style deception and stupid game playing that just supports all previous observations about him.
