“There are no problems, only solutions.” — John Lennon

Women that deviate from orthodox ideology pose a particular conundrum for the Watsonistas. Their denied sexism leaks. They are simply incapable of dealing with women in the manner that they deal with men – open abuse and ridicule of genitalia and sexual inadequacy – so there is an equality fail. No matter, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Greg Laden (artist's impression)

Here is a nice example of what gets done to female traitors, in this case by the baboon tag team of The Naked Emperor and Mr. Mackey.

A female community member posted an item on ‘tardbook (login required) after committing an unpeakable heresy – independently verifying some facts about the Elevatorgate fairy tale. After seeing an absurd claim that Irish hotel rooms don’t even have coffee1 (amongst other idiocies) on one of the baboon board’s affiliate blogs get swallowed unquestioningly, she actually checked. And, of course, found the absurdity to be what it was – absurd.

I would be lying if I said the response was surprising. If anything, it merely highlights the lather-rinse-repeat routine that the baboons rely on in situations where they have no conventional, civilised dialectic rebuttal (ie. all of the time). They attacked the person in a manner designed to damage – (more…)

“If you’re a preacher, you talk for a living, so even if you don’t make sense, you learn to make nonsense eloquently.Andrew Young [link]

“It is a far, far better thing to have a firm anchor in nonsense than to put out on the troubled seas of thought.” John Kenneth Galbraith [link]

These two quotes sit nicely side by side. The Galbraith one is particularly juicy, and richly sardonic, taken from his early work, The Affluent Society and refers to his theory of The Dependence Effect in economics which can be summarised roughly as –

…the final focus on production in economics amongst all else; alongside the observation that maximisation of production is sought chiefly not for the goods it produces, but to obtain full employment. The Dependence Effect further undermines our focus on production, claiming that the demand for this new production is created by the production itself(more…)

Audi0 – Butthole Surfers, from Locust Abortion Technician

Just to make the spurious complainer’s job a little harder… It’s now my domain. If you have a problem with content, tell me, because I care.

To commemorate, here’s an old Loony Tunes clip that just cracks me up every time and summarises the state of affairs in the noisier segments of what passes for online “secularism” at this point in time.

Spike is the dominant baboon Pharyngudrone PZ Myers / Rebecca Watson protege, Chester is a baboon wannabe, Sylvester is the archetypical misogynist, his response is how they perceive their impact on them and the door, well that’s what happens every time the baboons bignote themselves. Enjoy.

(misogynist nod to John C. Welsh)

It is always nice to see newcomers that step into the slime-pit that is the Watson / PZ Myers / Skepchick / Pharyngudrone freakshow take the time out to do their own deconstruct of the stupidity. Especially when it’s a girl. While girls are easy to dismiss with accusations of gender traitor, it doesn’t work with quite the same efficacy as accusations of misogyny hurled at boys that do the same.

It is even more delicious when it’s from a girl that is not an active member of either the godless or skeptic communities and is an outsider looking in. Such a person is Mandy Michelle, aka blastedgoat, which is the same moniker she uses on Youtube.

I really don’t have anything to say here other than well done Mandy. Blat, blat, blat. You pretty much nailed all of the big issues in one hit. Extremely well done. You have also contributed to expanding the reality that people that criticise this baboon uprising are not all insane car bombers exclusively from within the godless community.

Really Becky, your idiocy stands out like tits on a bull to anyone, anywhere that’s prepared to view the world unfiltered by Skepchick glasses. Thanks for making our movements look STUPID Becky. No one can do it quite like you. Not even the Baboon King.

And Mandy, don’t you dare stop making videos either. The baboons will attack you, yes – they always do. Ignore them. They are incoherent imbeciles that feed on those they think they may make feel vulnerable. You are under no obligation to take their idiocy seriously – in real terms it’s no different to stepping in dogshit. Just scrape it off and keep walking.

Usually, when you talk about the intellectual incoherence of Watsonistas to those that are unfamiliar with the Borg-like horde, they are naturally skeptical and are prone to assume you exaggerate.

I wish it were true. But it’s not. Yes they are that incoherent. No, you are not likely to find any kind of relevant argument in any of their babbling. No, they are not really indistinguishable from one another either. Yes they are legion and yes, they have frequent flyers that throw regular flouncy fits after a final parting insult, swearing never to return, only to be back a few days later regurgitating the same gibberish.

So for the unbelievers, I have collated ~3 months worth of Watsonista commentary deposited right here, discarding only the completely incomprehensible mouth-full-of-baked-beans-sneeze type gibberish (which is all still here if you really want to look for it). (more…)

Proverb, probably Chaucerian

Good aphorisms never die, they improve with age. Shakespeare expanded on this with his own –

Suspicion always haunts the guilty mind.

The gist is the same – third parties are unnecessary when deep inside, you yourself know you are a slime bag. It is this fragile frame of mind that I think is at the core of the relatively modern addition to our language angst – that amorphous, indistinct feeling of dread, anxiety, or anguish. That horrid, self-critical voice at the back of your mind that won’t shut up – ever – and who’s volume is in direct proportion to the frequency with which you knowingly transgress the strict moral codes you preach to others while you think no one is looking.

This is the plague of all public moralists, especially the shameless populist ones. Naturally, this leads to hypersensitivity to any kind criticism at all. Everything, no matter how trivial or valid, becomes a personal attack and a subversion of their moral authority. Unchecked, this gives way to narcissism and paranoia – and a cultivated conspiratorial state of delusion where they have become important enough for some kind of they to go out of its way to specifically get them. Which one’s MacKinnon?

Oh how cute – one of the “I really really hate Rebecca Watson” crowd has made a fake Twitter account in order to do a lot of stupid self-implicating tweets as if by Rebecca. Oh haha that’s so funny – what’s next, emptying a pail of garbage in her bed? Locking a skunk in her bathroom? Putting a bomb under her car?

— Our Ophelia, Brevity is the soul of wit

You have to love it. “Freethought”blogs in action. Continuing a proud tradition of cherry-picking and confirmation bias as evidence for truth, Ophelia has blundered onto another nugget of nothing and seizes on it, without any hesitation or any inclination to research it, and immediately exploits it to full strategic advantage. And excess, by conflating criticism of poor innocent Becky Watson with car bombing while she’s at it. No slander is too vile.

Quite unlike those horrid assholes at ERV that she despises with her whole vagina – who similarly saw this item and dismissed it as juvenile, copycat 4channery – Ophelia immediately grasps it uncritically with both fists and declares it evidence because it tells her what she wants to hear – that her suspicions are valid and her assumptions, as always, are right.
