But Franc, can’t you READ. She specifically SAID that she doesn’t drink to get DRUNK. If she were DRUNK, and then RAPED, she would have to bear some RESPONSIBILITY, which we both know is exactly the same as BLAME, FAULT and CONDEMNATION.

I have long been convinced that A/S conferences and other activities (drinking skeptically and skeptics in the pub) enable the unusually high rate of active alcoholism in the anti-theist community. Watson’s hangover cure is hair of the dog. Does she ever draw a sober breath unaccompanied by a horrendous hangover?
Ironically, many of the founding members, such as P&T and Randi are teetotalers.

Just to be clear – I’m not against boozing. I’m just against boozing when there are morons in the room. That is where the disaster starts. I refuse to acknowledge that those concocting drama are functional adults – they may be legal adults, but they are not functional adults. As for Myers and Watson, I am ::cough:: skeptical they’d even be able to function in a booze free environment. Should check out Korsakoff’s syndrome.
And seeing as there is no practical way to ensure a moron free zone, that leaves making it dry the only alternative. The real people can find another, idiot free venue to party at – I’m sure most would be relieved at the alternative set up.

Not regularly. The signal-to-noise ratio has succeeded in driving quite a few of us away. Just try and mention guns or i-junk and see what happens. Kinda like patriarchy on the baboon board.

The problem with all of these boards is that they tend to get dominated by those you post, and post, and post.
Justicar was the worst for this, but there is selection for the most long winded.

Indeed. The addiction to seeing one’s handle magically pop up on screen over and over and over and over…
It ceased to be relevant when some folks started taking cheap potshots as even cheaper revenge for unspecified past grievances. And I refuse to waste hours of time unsmearing willful misrepresentations of what I have said in blabbermouthing arms races. So the easiest solution is to move on. There are better, more concise ways to receive information than sifting through haystacks for needles.

O. I took it as meaning “to achieve a state of equilibrium”.
That is, mental/emotional stability (as do all addicts jonesing for the next hit).
Or possibly even “horizontal, with low entropy”.
